Those of you who are brand new to TeamUnify can skip this lesson since you’ll only be using the “new” calendar described on these pages. Same if your team already made the switch and you just need to learn it.

For those who have been using what we call the “old” or legacy calendar and events pages, the good news is that all of your existing data just automatically shows up on the “new” calendar. More specifically, events you added to the old calendar will show up on the General tab of the new, and events it displays from the Events page will show up on the Team Events tab of the new. We refer to them that way since eventually, the new calendar will simply be...the calendar.

There are several steps you’ll need to take to transition from the old to the new.

Activate New Calendar

The new calendar is already available for you to use; you just need to unhide it and make it available to everyone.

  1. In the side menu click Team Admin > Website Design.
  2. In the list of Tabs, find the New Calendar tab that has a Type Tab of TAB_New_Calendar and click its name.
    Click New Calendar
  3. Change Hide this Tab? to NO.
  4. If you are ready for the public to see it, change Access Control to Everyone; otherwise leave it as is and come back later and change it to that when you are ready.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Find any links you may have to the old calendar and events pages and update them to point to the new.

  1. Copy new Calendar tab link — Right click the New Calendar tab in the top menu and select Copy Link Location or Copy Link Address or Copy Shortcut.
  2. Update home page command buttons — If you use one of the command buttons on the home page for your Events or Calendar page, change it to use the new calendar.
    1. In the side menu click Team Admin > Website Design.
    2. Click Website Layout Configuration.
    3. Scroll down to the Command Button Controls section and click the Command Buttons tab.
    4. Click the dropdown of the command button you want to use and select [*User Defined*].
    5. Click in the URL field that opens up and paste the URL you copied in step 1 (type Ctrl+V on Windows or Command+V on Mac, or right-click in the field and select Paste).
    6. Change the Label field to Calendar or whatever you want to call it.
    7. You may want to click Icon Edit and choose a different icon to represent the calendar.
    8. While you are there, if any of the other buttons access either Team Events or Team Calendar, feel free to change it to something else or change it to [Do Not Show].
    9. Click Save Changes.
  3. Update links on any pages.
    1. Navigate to a page with a link to the old calendar or events page.
    2. Click Edit in the upper right.
    3. Click anywhere on an existing link to the Events page or Calendar and click the link icon (looks like a chain link).
    4. Delete the existing URL and paste the one you copied in step 1 (type Ctrl+V on Windows or Command+V on Mac, or right-click in the field and select Paste).
    5. Click OK.
    6. Click Save Changes.
    7. Repeat for any other pages with Events or Calendar links.

Turn Off Old Calendar/Events

Finally, turn off (hide) your old calendar and events pages to make the switch complete. Note: Your team may have hidden these tabs (perhaps they are only accessible from a link or button).

  1. In the side menu click Team Admin > Website Design.
  2. In the list of Tabs, find the tab that has a Type Tab of TAB_Calendar. It's most likely labeled Calendar. Unless it is italicized (indicating it is already hidden), click its name.
  3. Change Hide this Tab? to YES.
  4. Click Save Changes.
  5. Repeat those steps for the TAB_Events tab.

Equivalent Features in Old

The new calendar defaults to the List view, which is similar to how the old events page looked, along with the old calendar in List View. Team Events in the new are the same as events in the old.

Registration in the new is the same as an event registration in the old. You can actually add an event reg the same way as before, but we give you a shortcut with New Calendar Item > Registration.

The Month view in the new is the equivalent of the old Calendar page in Month View, and a General event is the same as a New Calendar Item (whether Regular or Workout) on the old.

Otherwise, we’re in new territory since none of the other things—Coaching Tools practices, member registrations, TUMoney fundraisers—showed on the old events or calendar pages.

Next, take a look at how Team Events work on the new calendar.
