How to Resize Images video tutorial

When talking about how big certain images need to be, some of our articles say they need to be a certain aspect ratio. This is a width to height ratio, such as 16:9 for big screen TVs. The New CMS requires photos to have a 5:2 aspect ratio.
5:2 aspect ratio

This generally means you will need to crop and resize your images to fit this ratio. Below are two tools you can use for this. These are not made by TeamUnify, so use at your own risk.

Calculate Aspect Ratio

If you have Photoshop or some other image editing tool and are comfortable using it to crop images, use this tool to enter an aspect ratio, then calculate the needed height for a given width.

  1. Go to the website
  2. Enter the aspect ratio in the W1 and H1 fields, such as 5 and 2.
  3. Enter the image width in the W2 field, such as 2000.
  4. It will automatically enter the correct height in the H2 field, in this case 800.
  5. Crop your photo using the W2 and H2 numbers and save it.
  6. It is now ready for upload to your TU site.

Crop Image to an Aspect Ratio

This tool lets you not only enter an aspect ratio, but upload and crop an image as well.

  1. Go to the website
  2. Click Upload an image and select the image you want to crop.
  3. Under step 2, click the Fixed Aspect Ratio button, then enter that ratio, such as 5 and 2, and click Change.
  4. Drag a rectangle over the image to select the area you want.
  5. Move the selection as needed, then click Crop.
  6. You may optionally change the parameters in steps 3-7, such as the image size and quality.
  7. When finished, at the bottom click Resize Image.
  8. Below that, click Download image.
  9. Navigate to your Finder or File Explorer, then rename "" to what it is, such as kids-working-out.jpg (make sure to leave the file extension the same, such as .jpg).
  10. It is now ready for upload to your TU site.
